Starlink is a satellite internet group developed by the aerospace company SpaceX, founded by Elon Musk. Its goal is to provide high-speed, low-latency internet access in deprived or remote areas of the world, where traditional broadband infrastructure is either unavailable or too expensive to set up.
The system works by deploying a large network of small satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). These satellites communicate with ground stations and user terminals (dish-like antennas) to provide internet service. Since the satellites are closer to the Earth than traditional geostationary satellites, Starlink aims to provide faster speeds and lower latency.
